The Climate Reality Project Sacramento Chapter
The Sacramento chapter seeks to play a crucial role in promoting clean, efficient, and sustainable energy consumption and transportation practices in our area. Chapter members promote policies such as Inflation Reduction Act to accelerate clean energy usage and clean energy job infusion in the Sacramento area. We actively work with our sister organizations to promote clean energy policies via local elected officials in our area.

What is Climate Change?
Climate change is the long-term shift in temperatures and weather patterns around the world. Scientists agree that the shifts we’re now seeing – such as increased heatwaves, drought, extreme rainfall, and sea level rise – are caused by human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas.
In 2015, 196 countries around the world agreed to address climate change by signing the Paris Agreement. Signatories to the international treaty agreed to keep global temperatures “well below” 2°C (3.6 °F) of increase above pre-industrial levels by the year 2011, with the stated goal of trying to maintain only 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) of warming. Under the agreement, all countries should reduce their emissions as soon as possible and reach net zero by 2050.
The Climate Reality Project is one of many groups working to help ensure the Paris goals are met. Our shared vision is for a swift, systemic, and just transition toward net zero emissions by the middle of this century, with major steps toward that goal by 2030. Working together, we can create a better future. If you’d like to help us build a better world, please join us!
